  I glance down at our intertwined fingers and cock one brow. "Oh yeah? Like what?"

  We cross the street and head in the direction of his apartment. "Did I ever tell you my dining room window overlooks the park?"

  I bite back a grin. "Is that a fact?"

  "Mmhmm. And at this time of day there's bound to be loads of joggers, dog walkers…. Hell, anyone could wander by and look up."

  I laugh. "You're just a dirty old man, aren't you?"

  He drops his laundry bag and pulls me in for a toe-curling kiss, a hot, languid promise of more to come. "You like me 'cause I'm dirty," he says, throwing my own words back at me. Then he grabs his bag and we start walking again.

  Yeah, I like him because he's dirty. I like him more because he makes me feel extraordinary, accepted. Seen. I'm not just wallpaper anymore.

  Jennie has always enjoyed reading but is a relative late-comer to writing. She never had aspirations of becoming a published author until a dance with death made her ask herself what she really wanted out of life, and she’s been writing ever since.

  When not sitting in front of her computer, Jennie can usually be found reading a book, watching a movie or building stuff out of Lego.
